02/09/2008 @ 13:00

Tourism is currently flourishing in Dominican Republic, creating a high demand for beachfront Caribbean property which is great news for investors, reports golfweek.com.

The Caribbean island boasts a privately-owned international airport that maximises accessibility from all over the world and plays a part in bringing in over a million tourists every year. The numbers boost the economy and create a fertile investment environment for both businesses and private buyers.

The island also now offers world-class golf courses, designed by the likes of Tom Marzolf, Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus. Charles Kingsbaker, regional director of sales and marketing for Troon Golf, told golfweek.com: "Where ocean meets land you have something spectacular. The combination of Caribbean blue and fairway green makes golf in the Dominican Republic very special."

World-class golfing is a major factor in the success of the island's various resorts, and has been that way for nearly 40 years. Top facilities have been instrumental in securing investment from all over the world, with nearly 40 per cent of homeowners in the region coming from Europe.
