Try Bequia for a bargain
13/11/2008 @ 18:43

The Daily Mail's Zoe Dare Hall is advising those interested in investing in luxury Caribbean property to consider the island of Bequia.

As the largest of the Grenadine Islands, it is a 25-minute flight from nearby Barbados and only five minutes by plane or ferry from St Vincent.

According to Ms Dare Hall, many savvy investors are looking to smaller islands such as Bequia to grab a bargain.

The English-speaking island may only be seven square miles, but it is becoming more popular, according to Sands Caribbean marketing director Andrew Sparrow.

"The island is getting livelier these days, especially during the Easter yachting regatta, but it's still where you come to escape," he old the newspaper.

"There are only a handful of islands left like this. You have white sand, aqua sea and zero crime."

A Jamaica-based travel provider recently called for more flights to be laid on from the UK in order to match demand for the popular tourist getaway.
