Over a third of Brits opt to work abroad
14/11/2008 @ 12:20
Recent research has shown that the UK population seems to have an intrinsic desire to work and live abroad. The Lloyds TSB study showed that almost a third (32 per cent) of Brits have been employed outside of the UK at some point in their career, with the average worker spending just over a year abroad. Although Europe (56 per cent) and Asia (20 per cent) may be the most popular places to work abroad, few could deny the lure of the Caribbean as a place to set up home. Luxury Caribbean property can also be a great business venture, with the islands being ever-popular with holiday-makers and honeymooners. Lloyds TSB International head of operations Stephanie Cousin said the figures show Britons' adventurous side. "We're certainly a nation of intrepid travellers and whether it's to gain international work experience or simply escape the weather, it's clear that many of us may be working overseas for part of our career," she said. With the horrible winter weather setting in and the prospect of a UK-wide recession in 2009, many may consider now a good time to jump ship and head off to the Caribbean in search of a better life.
