Oasis of the Seas touches to touch water soon
21/11/2008 @ 14:56

The largest pleasure boat ever to navigate the seas is to be floated in Finland for the first time.

Destined for the Caribbean, the Oasis of the Seas is a 220,000 cruise ship from Royal Caribbean.

The 1,187ft ship cost £700 million and will take up to 6,296 passengers around the Caribbean and the world.

It is 40 per cent bigger than its closest rival and is big enough that it will have its own park on deck.

Also onboard the 220,000 tonne ship will be a 750-seat "AquaTheatre" which allows passengers to take in all manner of live shows that take place in the ship's huge pool.

The ship's exhaust stack is retractable in order to allow it to safely navigate bridges on its travels.

The ship is due for launch late next year and will be a major boost to investors in luxury Caribbean property as it will raise the profile of the archipelago even higher.
