Families opting to spend Christmas in the Caribbean
18/11/2008 @ 18:36

While Christmas time usually brings up images of snowy rooftops and roasting chestnuts, interspersed with fat and bearded men in red attire, some holidaymakers choose a very different setting in which to hang their stockings.

According to Carnival Cruises senior vice president Terry Thornton, Christmas is often a boom time for cruise lines and holidays in the Caribbean.

He said that it is often a time when families get together for a group holiday.

"We traditionally see very strong demand for Christmas cruises," he explained to thestar.com.

"In recent years, we've hosted many more multi-generational families, from kids and grandparents to their extended family members.

"A cruise allows guests of all ages and interests to spend the holidays together. We have something for everyone with opportunities for either individual or family pursuits."

With this in mind, owners of luxury Caribbean property may wish to market their property to families over the festive period.

A Caribbean Christmas tradition is the masquerade band - a costumed band with masked dancers.
